The bus ride was L-O-N-G! We stopped about every two hours so that was good. You wouldn't believe some of the rest stops along the way! They are gorgeous. However......Here's what about 2 hours of sleep looks like! :-) Breakfast was great! We ate at Pikes Restaurant in Gettysburg. Have you ever played the game, "How many women and girls can you fit in a tiny bathroom with three stalls?" The answer was 30! (but not very well). :-) No outlets!

After breakfast the sightseeing began. We had an excellent tour guide at the Battlefield of Gettysburg! Bob really knew his stuff! The kids and most of the adults climbed up this observation tower.

Next was the Museum of History and then the Capital Building. We had a FULL day. We got back to the hotel in time for the kids to swim for a while and then Lights Out! We are beat! More tomorrow! 

And we're off!

 Amid raindrops, hugs and choruses of goodbyes, 37 8th graders, 7 parents, and 3 chaperones excitedly  boarded the Cardinal Bus lines. After we loaded all of the suitcases and coolers under the bus and a WHOLE bunch of stuff on the bus,  we are off and headed  to Washington DC. The plan is Gettysburg as our first stop after breakfast tomorrow. The bus is full of chattering teenagers. We brought plenty of movies and hopefully we'll do some sleeping tonight!

Time to pack!

We had our trip meeting, and chose the students who get to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier! Congratulations to Bree Garrison, Tyler Cambe, Jill Quinn, and Nick Schaffer. It is currently on the Itinerary for Friday. I'll let you know if that changes.  This will definitely be a highlight of the trip.

It's my plan to make a blog post and upload pictures every evening.

I've checked the weather forecast. It's looks like we better plan for cold and rainy days. Right now Sunday will be sunny. Isn't that always the way? The weather turns nice when we leave. That's ok! Bring umbrellas and coats. I suggest hats and gloves too! Brrr!

This is a great bunch of kids and Mr. Jones and I are really looking forward to the trip as much as the kids are, and I'm sure Mr. Ton is too!
